Recomposed Spring

I feel like that Antonio Vivaldi's "Spring" recomposed by Max Richter and Ubi Caritas presented/played by Ola Gjeilo express something that all creatures' earnest longing to be flourishing and for God's love and grace. If I say it sounds like a prelude to heaven, is it too exaggerated? Well, all of a sudden, I fell in love with the two songs! Here is Ubi Caritas' lyrics.
Where charity and love are, God is there. Christ's love has gathered us into one. Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him. Let us fear, and let us love the living God. And may we love each other with a sincere heart.
Where charity and love are, God is there. As we are gathered into one body. Beware, lest we be divided in mind. Let evil impulses stop, let controversy cease. And may Christ our God be in our midst.
Where charity and love are, God is there. And may we with the saints also. See Thy face in glory, O Christ our God: The joy that is immense and good. Unto the ages through infinite ages. Amen.

A Village of Fairy Tale

In winter, I used to like watching animated cartoons on TV when I was a child. Although I didn't remember all the titles of them, I'm still able to remember the messages of stories and some scenes.

It's true that good fairy tales affect children deeply since still now I treasure some of the stories in my memory.

Here is again Arts Quad thickly covered with snow. This scene recalls a peaceful village of old fairy tales to mind. Early in the evening, I took this photo on the 4th floor in Olin library. Someday I will miss this scene so much.

Snow Blow

Snow.. heavy at times. Additional snow accumulation of 6 to 12 inches. Cornell University will close effective 12:30 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2007. As you leave the campus this afternoon, please take extra precaution for pedestrians who may be walking in the roadway and allow extra time for a safe journey home.
- From Cornell University Emergency Notification -

At a visa interview in the American Embassy in Seoul, a Secretary of the Embassy smiled and said to me that he also went to Cornell University. "A heavy snow often falls in Ithaca", he added. Now I see what he said :)

Here is Heaven!

A beautiful rainbow in Cornell around 5pm. 16th November 2006

It suddenly rained cats and dogs in the afternoon. As I didn't have an umbrella, I borrowed it and went to the section class of microeconomics. After the class, I came across this marvelous rainbow in Arts Quad. Not only I but also many students were standing and wondering at the beauty for a moment. I've never seen such a beautiful rainbow in my life! God is a true artist in the world.

Psalms 8 flashed into my mind. "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?"

Beebe Lake in north campus

An autumn day.. I was so moved. Tears flew. It's beyond description! Everyday I pass through this beautiful scenery. God is so amazing that He sent me to be here unexpectedly. Thank you!

Picturesque Scenes

Now it's fall break in Cornell. My initial plan of this break has been changed three times. A few weeks ago, aunt and uncle who live in West Virginia State said they would come to see me but they changed the schedule. So I intended to go to New York, however, it was ruined, too. Yeah.. it's really break time I've needed. Today I couldn't help taking a stroll around Beebe Lake in north campus since it was so lovely day. I felt something intimate like deja vu when I was walking down the path. On April of 2006, I went to Taize, France. I loved the place so much, especially 'Wood and St.Stephen's Spring Lake.' Bohmyi and I used to go the lakeside, read a book, meditate on His words and pray before leaving there. I found that Beebe Lake resembles the Wood and St.Stephen's Spring Lake not only in shape but also in beauty. Amazing grace! I've lived here since August 2nd, but I didn't know this place. It takes only 5-10 minutes from my house. It's also amazing!

On Time

I usually pass by this Arts Quad. Two days ago, it rained quietly in the night. Then I found fall on campus. I got a little sentimental over autumn-tinted trees. I thought about thy faithfulness. Yes, He is truly faithful! His faithfulness surrounds me.
Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.

Beautiful Window

I pressed lots of shutters in Taize, France. This picture is one of my works. I was touched with the beauty of the scene. What a wonderful artistic touch!

I Am A New Cornellian!

Thanks to God's amazing grace, I got a wonderful chance to study at Cornell University in the States. On the 2nd of August, 2006, I arrived in Ithaca, New York. I have never seen such a beautiful campus. I am a really blessed man. I look forward to where He is leading me from here.
